St Eunan’s pupils show that they know how to ‘love thy neighbour’
Children at St Eunan’s Primary School in Clydebank explored the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they showed how to ‘love thy neighbour’ by helping those in need in their local community.
The P6 and P7 pupils researched the work of St Vincent de Paul, who inspired them to gather supplies for a local foodbank and to raise money for the society of St Vincent De Paul with a coffee morning.
The fundraising youngsters took part in the activities as they worked towards achieving the Pope Francis Faith Award, an initiative of the Bishops’ Conference and the Scottish Catholic Education Service that has just completed its pilot phase, with almost 900 children receiving the award.
As part of their work, the St Eunan’s pupils have also been working on an award winning topic—Education, Everychild, Everywhere—that included a campaign for children who are denied their right to an education, rallying in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street for their cause.
Shona Gardiner, RE coordinator at the school, said that they look forward to building upon their Pope Francis Faith Award experience with the school’s senior children.
The pupils are pictured with their teachers and Headteacher Anne Docherty receiving their awards.
